As we know, at Christmas, we welcome the Christ Child as Jesus “Emmanuel” comes to us.  He has come not only to save us.  He has also come to teach us.  He has come to teach us how to live, to teach us how to serve, and to teach us how to love.  Christ comes into our world and into our lives as a sign of the love God has for us.  As disciples, we can show our love for Him in a very special way by receiving the Baby Jesus in our hearts spiritually through prayerful reflection and meditation, and through service to others.  We can also show our love by thanking the Lord for His many gifts and blessings.

As a vibrant community of faith, with a strong spiritual foundation, we join in thanking God for the many blessings He has bestowed upon us, our families, and our nation.  We especially thank Him for the gift of His Son.

I am truly grateful for your enthusiastic support of our Parish and for your active participation in our liturgical celebrations. You have made it possible for us to sustain the spiritual integrity and vitality of our Parish. I am also deeply grateful for your generosity which, in so many ways, has enhanced and strengthened the many programs, ministries, and activities which we offer at Saint Brigid.

My hope for all of us this Christmas is that we will take the time to reflect on the following prayer taken from the “Office of Readings” for Christmas Day:

 

As we reflect on this prayer, may we truly be people of the light, and allow the light of Christ to shine through the darkness of our lives. I hope that this Christmas season will truly be a time of prayer and reflection, wonder and silence as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Light of the world.
