A Parish Mission can provide an opportunity for spiritual renewal. It is a time when we can pause and reflect on our call to discipleship as we continue on our journey of faith. It can also provide an opportunity to change hearts and transform lives as we strengthen our relationship with Our Lord. With this in mind, we are privileged to present an Advent Parish Mission conducted by Fr. Joseph Morris, Director of the Catholic Center at Kennesaw State University.

As we know, Advent is a special time in the Church year as we prepare for Christmas. Advent holds out the hope and desire to see the light of Christ shine thorough the darkness of our world. At this special time, we are urged to remain watchful and vigilant as we wait in joyful anticipation for the coming of the Lord. He is ready to come more fully into our homes. He is ready to come more fully into our lives. He is ready to come more fully into our hearts. This Christmas we are invited to give the Lord the gift of a pure heart by being spiritually prepared for His coming.

During our Mission, Fr. Morris will focus on the Mass and how it is essential to our faith journey. Catholic News Service recently reported that Pope Francis called the Mass “a beautiful, transformative encounter with the true living presence of Christ.” The Pope wants people to “understand the value and significance of the liturgy as an essential part of growing closer to God.” He also wants the faithful “to grow in understanding the great gift God gave us in the Eucharist” which is the source and summit of our faith. In addition to reflecting on the importance of the Mass, Fr. Morris will also speak of the gift of the Christ Child that awaits us. We invite you to attend this Mission. Please invite your friends, especially those Catholics who may have been away from the Church for some time and for some reason. Through God’s grace, you may be instrumental in getting your friends to return to the precious faith we love and cherish.

The Parish Mission will take place Monday to Wednesday, December 4th to 6th at 7 pm. Details concerning the Mission can be obtained from the Parish bulletin, app and website as well as from the Parish office.

I pray that you will participate in the Parish Mission and avail yourself of this special time of grace.
