From our pastor, Father Neil Herlihy

On Saturday, March 17th, Saint Patrick’s Day, Archbishop Gregory will celebrate Mass at Saint Pius X Catholic Church in Conyers honoring the Women and Teens of the Year for each of those Parishes and Missions which are members of the Archdiocese of Atlanta Council of Catholic Women.  A reception will follow the Mass.  Saint Brigid Catholic Church has chosen Cathy Schneider as Woman of the Year while Jake Blair has been chosen as Teen of the Year for Saint Brigid Parish.  We are grateful to Cathy and Jake for all they do to enhance the spiritual vitality of our faith community.  They have set a great example for us in the way they have answered their call to discipleship.

Cathy coordinates our Respect Life Ministry.  She is a housewife and mother who truly strives to follow the call of Our Holy Father to embrace the Gospel of Life.  She has a great appreciation for life from conception until natural death.  She coordinates our “Life Chain” and “Forty Days for Life” activities which involve a public, peaceful and prayerful witness concerning the value of all human life.  Cathy also participates in our “Fostering Love Ministry” which assists parents in their efforts to adopt and raise children.  In addition, Cathy assists in the ministering to those in prison, including those on Death Row in Georgia.  In all she does she tries to answer the call of Christ to serve those in need.

Jake is a spiritual leader for the Life Teen Ministry of this Parish.  He is always willing to help out and bring new ideas to the Ministry.  He clearly lives his Catholic faith and readily shares it with others.  He is an officer in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at his local high school.  Jake serves as the Head Lector for the Life Teen Mass on Sunday and prepares the lector schedule and trains new lectors.  Jake is also a faithful volunteer at our ministry for teens with Special Needs.  In all that he does, he joyfully serves the Saint Brigid faith community.  He always conveys a positive attitude and cares deeply for those with whom he interacts.  In his words and in his actions he gives witness as a true disciple of Christ.

All are invited to attend this Mass at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 17, 2018 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Conyers (2621 GA-20, Conyers, GA 30013).  There is a reception to follow for all honorees and their guests.

On behalf of the priests, deacons, staff, and parishioners of Saint Brigid, I join Archbishop Gregory in congratulating Cathy and Jake for their well-deserved honors.
